Hello — woodworking shorts, currently terrible at this
Twelve days in, introducing myself as instructed.
I make short videos about woodworking. Six months, 340 followers, and my retention graph looks like a ski slope. I've read the first two modules of Fundamentals and the "early cliff means packaging mismatch" thing has already cost me a night's sleep, because I think that's every video I've made.
Stuck on: my hook is always me holding the finished piece, which I now suspect resolves the tension instead of creating it. Testing the opposite this week.

Welcome. For what it's worth, "my retention graph looks like a ski slope" is a better hook than most things posted here this week.
You've diagnosed it yourself in the last paragraph. Holding up the finished piece answers the only question the viewer had. Open on the moment it nearly went wrong instead — you'll know within a day whether it worked.
Woodworking is one of the easiest niches for this, honestly. Everything you make has a step where it could be ruined. That's free tension and most channels in the space throw it away.
Ha — I'll take it. Trying Tobi's version this weekend and I'll post the numbers either way.
